My Role
I was responsible for sketches, UI and visual design, prototyping and usability testing.
Day 1 - Map
I started on day one by familiarizing myself with the problem. I went through some research to map out my application's most important flow.
Problem
After gathering enough research, many cooks experience stress while preparing meals, often due to disorganized recipes, unclear instructions and the pressure of multitasking in the kitchen.

Day 2 - Sketch
On day two, I sketched out some ideas to ideate and develop possible solutions. I did some research on competitor's products to understand the strengths and weaknesses of existing solutions catering to home cooks. The products I chose was BigOven, Food Network Kitchen, and Mealime.
Solution
Sometimes looking at all the instructions on one page can be overwhelming for the user. Creating a step-by-step guide was a crucial aspect of the solution to relieve stress for home cooks.
Day 3 - Storyboarding
A storyboard was created to visualize a home cook's experience from the first screen to completing a recipe. Each sketch in the storyboard was showcasing key interactions that the home cook would take.
Day 4 - Prototype
The prototype aimed to focus on the core features and demonstrate how users could navigate through each cooking step.
Day 5 - Test
Gained viable feedback from usability tests. Users were able to get through the key flows with ease.
Learnings
This design sprint really taught me how to work more fast paced and make quick design decisions. With the sprint only lasting a week, it gave me experience on what it is like to meet tight deadlines. Working on this sprint solo was a definite challenge and really pushed me to the next level.
