About

Sound Scope is a music marketing app that allows musicians to keep track of their overall earnings and streams. For four weeks I teamed up with other designers to create an innovative design system to create trust and easy usability for the user.

Goals

My team's main goals within those four weeks were to create an efficient design system that provides consistency and ensures a cohesive look and functionality for users.

Team Members

Anthony DeMario - UX/UI Designer

Jessie Mackenzie - UX/UI Designer

Spencer Chan - UX/UI Designer

Problem

The design had gone through so many iterations using so many different color schemes and typefaces, so the app had no clear direction or standardization.

User Research

Prior research was completed by the Sound Scope team through Heuristics and Competitive Analysis so they can gain more knowledge on their competition's strength and weaknesses.

Pain Points

Prior user testing was completed by the Sound Scope team and pointed out these major pain points.

Pain Point 1 - Pie Chart

Users were struggling with relating certain elements to the graph.

Pain Point 2 - Social Media Icons

User was expecting to see the platform name when hovered.

Revision 1 - High Fidelity

Style Guide

My team came up with a standardized design system complete with set colors, typefaces, spacing and components.

Graph Redesign

Updated pie graph type to a donut graph.  Users found the original graph to be over cluttered with information.

Added color prompts to the card to let the user know what category they are looking at.

Social Media Icons Redesign

We added the brand colors any time the user is hovered over the social icon.  We also added the name of the platform when hovered.

Final Screens

My team implemented our new standardized design system with new typefaces, spaces, and components so the application can stay on brand with the company guidelines.

Key Takeaways

Working at Sound Scope was one of the most exciting experiences in my UX journey.  This provided me with a lot of experience on what it is like to work and collaborate with a design team.  With the amount of time we had on this project, it really taught me how to make quick design decisions.

I also would like to thank my team members Spencer and Jessie for their amazing team support.  Their exceptional communication and collaboration have been key to bringing our vision to life.  I ended this internship feeling incredibly confident and proud of our team collaboration as we achieved our project goals and created something meaningful.
