Design Process
When planning out this design, I wanted to keep the overall colors and aesthetic similar to the original design. My main goal was to create a more efficient way of expressing the different modes in the game.
Inspiration
What I noticed about the original design:
The original design of the main menu in MLB The Show lacked in expressing what game mode the user was hovered on. The layout lacked a clear hierarchy, with too many elements competing for attention. This resulted in a longer decision-making process and a less efficient user experience. The original design also lacked context as to what each game mode offered.
Redesign
Why I feel this redesign draws the user's attention closer:
The redesign introduces a more streamlined layout with a clear visual hierarchy. Each game mode is now accompanied by a brief description that helps users understand their options at a glance. I used larger, bolded font styles and higher contrasting color schemes for each game mode, allowing users to easily differentiate between options. By reducing visual noise and emphasizing key actions, the redesign naturally guides the user's eye to the most important elements on the screen, enhancing usability and engagement.

Takeaway
Through this redesign, I learned the importance of user-centric thinking in interface design. It reinforced the idea that simplicity and clarity are crucial in guiding user interactions. Additionally, I gained experience in balancing aesthetics with functionality, ensuring that the design not only looks good but also improves the overall user experience. UX is extremely important in video games. It serves as a way of attracting players and creating memorable gameplay experiences. Menu screens serve as a player's initial point of action, so it is pivotal that it resonates with players from around the world.
